William
(Bill) Kosiuk William (Bill) Kosiuk was born in Welland, Ontario on June 16, 1920, son of Peter and Paraskevia Huzyk, and loving brother to Michael and the late Gerald. In 1928 his parents decided to leave Welland and come to Montreal, which became their permanent home. William attended Edward Murphy school where he completed his secondary education. In 1943, William graduated from the University of Ottawa, Faculty of Arts. William completed his first year, in the Faculty of Science at the University of Montreal. While attending the University of Montreal, he trained as a cadet in the Canadian Army, and was discharged in 1944. William began working for the Montreal Gazette in the Circulation Department. Each year, as part of their promotional campaigns, there would be a contest for the young carriers. The winners would spend a weekend in New York City. William was always there to volunteer his time to accompany these young boys. On August 14, 1948 William married Anastasia (Nellie) Kuchmij. In 1949, their first daughter, Linda, was born. Two years later, a second daughter, Donna, arrived, followed two years later by a third daughter, Kathleen. William was surrounded by girls until 1962, when his son William Jr. was born. His family was now complete. William continued working as a Statistician for the Montreal Gazette, and after 45 years of loyal service, he retired in 1993. His retirement allowed him to enjoy working in his flower gardens, which were often admired by passersby, and to devote more leisure time to his loving wife Nellie. William also took pride in his Ukrainian heritage. He was an active member in the Ukrainian community. William was a member of the Church committee of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish for a number of years. He was involved with the Ukrainian Catholic Young Mens' Association. As a co-founder of the Father Josaphat Jean Foundation, William believed that our young students, the future of tomorrow, should have the opportunity to continue their education and pursue their dreams. William served as a Director of the Foundation until 2006. William had a great zest for life. His family was his whole life. He took pride and joy in his children, Linda, Donna (Eduardo), Kathleen (Vince), and William Jr. (Lisa). He was a loving and caring grandfather to his grandchildren, Mark (Stacy), Jason and Alicia, Eric, Stephanie and Tyler. William's first great-grandchild, Dylan William was born on January 28, 2008. People were often heard commenting on the extraordinary relationship and closeness his family had for each other. William
