Shortly after her departure from TVOntario, she was lured to work (on a part-time basis) with the newly autonomous TFO, Ontario's French-language broadcaster (TFO was a part of TVOntario until March 2007). She currently serves as TFO's Board Secretary and is helping to develop the company's policies.

Throughout her life, Olya has been an active member/supporter of the Ukrainian-Canadian community. Growing up in Montreal, she was a member of the Ukrainian Youth Association (SUM) and the Poltava Dance Ensemble. Moving to Toronto in the early seventies, she became active in SUSK (Ukrainian-Canadian Students Union) and served on various defence committees such as the Committee in Defence of Soviet Political Prisoners, the Plyusch Tour Committee, and Action for Women's Rights in the USSR. Later on, she became involved with the Ukrainian Canadian Professional and Business Association and served on its Board for many years. She has also served on other community boards, including those of St. Vladimir Institute and the Ukrainian Canadian Research and Documentation Centre. Currently, she is President of the Canadian Foundation for Ukrainian Studies.

Olya has also travelled extensively within and outside Canada (e.g., Europe, Africa, Middle East, South America, Japan, USA), often taking part in local conferences, meetings or other cultural activities. Now that she is in semi-retirement, Olya is in the process of determining where next to channel her energies in addition to resuming her travel habits. Her key interests remain: women's and human rights, multiculturalism, education, and the environment.

I taught English Literature for several years, after which my career changed to guidance counseling at the high school level for twenty-seven years and also in adult education for ten years. I belong to the Quebec Counselling Association, being a director-at-large and I also write articles for their bulletin. Also I like to write memoirs and I am pleased to say that one of my stories has been published in ”Canadian Stories”, a magazine published across Canada. It is called ´Anticosti Island´, which is a story I wrote about my father, Wasyl Lychacz, coming to Canada as a young man seeking his fortune, and experiencing an adventure while working on Anticosti Island. Married to Walter. Two sons,  Peter and Paul. Recently retired, I enjoy writing memoirs and singing in the Vidlunia choir
